Sr. Tab Engineer needed w/Master’s degree or Foreign Equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or HVACEngineering and one (1) year experience as Sr. Tab Engineer or  Tab Engineer performing following job duties:
Test and adjust units to rated and required values to achieve the maximum energy economization.  Control and commission the Operation of Variable Air volumes, Fan Coil Units, Fan Powered Boxes, Air Handling Units, Roof to Units and Exhaust Fans.  Troubleshoot defective and inaccurate HVAC systems and provide the correctional action recommendations so that units run on the designed parameters.  Responsible for performance testing of utility HVAC equipment’s air handlers, chillers, pumps, boilers and cooling towers.   Control and operate on Variable air volumes, Fan Powered boxes, Fan coil units, AC’s and Exhaust systems.  Responsible for testing, balancing and commissioning of air and hydronic systems.

Senior TAB Engineers are required to learn HVAC systems and fluid flow systems for analysis based on measurements obtained during the Testing, Adjusting, and Balancing process. This system analysis is instrumental in the identification process for determining the necessary adjustments for meeting the required parameters and to efficiently evaluate and resolve issues which may be encountered.

  • Take a proactive approach in participating in the company’s NEBB TAB Engineer Training Program to ensure all required NEBB and company standards and practices are
    maintained. The company’s educational program for TAB Engineer Training was implemented to ensure team member success and increased customer satisfaction through project consistency.
  • Inspect systems to verify compliance with plans and specifications and to detect potential or existing malfunctions in system components.
  • Adjust systems for meeting the required settings through performance testing.
  • Testing the performance of air and hydronic systems, using tools and specialized (company provided) test equipment, such as a/an Pitot tube, Manometer, Anemometer, Velometer, Tachometer, Psychrometer, and Thermometer, to isolate problems and determine necessary adjustments.
  • Discuss system operations with end users to verify that malfunctions have been corrected.
  • Diagnose, Test, Adjust, and Balance system components to achieve optimal system performance.
  • Investigate system and operational deficiencies to determine corrective actions.
  • Read and interpret project mechanical drawings, specifications, and equipment performance data to determine proper balancing techniques and project management approaches.
  • Prepare each project by conducting a system design review and assembling the required test forms for documentation purposes.
  • Maintain proper documentation of daily activities using project specific reporting procedures. All Testing, Adjusting, and Balancing performed, and any issues discovered
    are to be addressed fully using clear verbiage and accompanied with supporting
    documentation (as required).

Looking to hire an experienced TAB Engineer with knowledge:

  • On commercial Heating Ventilating Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems includes Air Handlers, Chiller Systems, Hot water Pumps and Cooling Tower using specialized testing equipment, software, and National Environmental Balancing Bureau (NEBB) procedures to achieve optimum performance of the building environmental equipment
  • Hydronic Systems to Profile Hot Water, Chiller and Condenser Water Pumps and balance the balance water flow on Heating and cooling machines to rated Gallon per Minute (GPM) using circuit setters.
Must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in either of the following:
  • Mechanical Engineering 
  • Energy Management

  • Perform construction site inspections to examine the installation and construction of HVAC systems, reviews construction schedule and provides input regarding durations and activities, coordinate closely with other construction trades such as Electrical, Mechanical, and Building Automation Contractors, communicates with Client, and Commissioning personnel as required.
  • Troubleshoot Faulty systems on HVAC Equipment and recommend appropriate changes to mechanical contractor like changing sheaves sizes on motors, Redesigning ductworks to meet the project requirements.
  • Perform any other tasks or responsibilities as assigned by supervisor on site to meet client Heating and Comfort cooling temperatures in the offices, schools, Hotels etc.
  • Manage assigned projects to meet professional execution in a timely and cost-effective manner, Interface with Project manager on site to coordinate activities, report problems to make changes to meet project design requirements.
  • Maintain documentation of TAB work performed weekly and monthly to show conformity with system specifications and set up meetings with client to discuss progress on work.
  • Investigate system abnormalities and deficiencies on Variable Air Volume Systems, Fan Powered boxes, Fan Coil Units and Air Conditioner Units and Exhaust Systems to operate in effective manner, isolate and resolve system issues
  • Review blueprints, drawings, specifications, and other design documents for a wide variety of HVAC complex projects.
